Duifhuizen asked us to help them come up with ideas for how to utilize an additional retail space next to their existing store. The question was clear: how can we add value for the visitor, rather than just providing more floor space?
Analysis of the Current Situation
A direct expansion of the store would do little to change the shopping experience. That is why we explored how the space could be used to best benefit both Duifhuizen and the visitor: greater clarity, a more immersive experience, and a layout that feels naturally intuitive.
Two zones, each with its own function
The solution lay in creating two complementary zones:
- The existing store remains focused on bags and leather goods
- The new space is designed as an environment entirely focused on luggage and travel
By connecting both spaces, a single cohesive whole is created with clear routing and greater visibility from the passageway.
Experience as a guide
The new luggage zone has its own atmosphere that aligns with the theme of travel. Elements such as directional signage, a luggage display, and a wall reminiscent of an airport enhance recognition and encourage passersby to step inside. The layout and design support the customer journey from orientation to purchase.
